Abstract
Choosing the appropriate imaging test is one of the most difficult decisions in clinical practice. One common error is that often clinicians may not appreciate the limitations of radiology due to an unrealistic and unlimited faith in imaging tests as a potential solution to every clinical problem. In reality, radiology is just like any other medical discipline and has limitations; thus, it is crucial to respect the indications for every imaging test. Future boards questions will focus more and more on public health, cost-effectiveness, and wise and judicious use of resources as the gatekeepers of clinical care.
This chapter reports some tips for decision-making and shows some basic principles for both training and clinical practice.
