Abstract
Osgood-Schaltter’s disease (OSD) is a common overuse syndrome that affects the tibial tuberosity in children during their puberty growth spurt. It causes cartilaginous damage of the tubercle during the apophyseal maturation stage. Symptoms include local pain, swelling and tenderness on the tuberosity that worsens with physical activities. Conservative treatment includes rest, ice, activity modification and physical therapy. Vitamin D supplementation and immobilization may have a role in treatment. Occasionally, some of these patients may require surgery.
