Abstract
The SOLCA Portoviejo hospital network was initially designed for a group of services; however, over time, more demanding services have increased, as well as workstations, affecting its performance. In this research, a proposal for the Solca Portoviejo hospital data network is obtained based on performance through the evaluation of QoS parameters. The study is descriptive and experimental, where several designs are configured applying redundancy and QoS mechanisms. The proposals are evaluated by simulation in Opnet software through latency parameters, packet loss and effective transfer rate. The simulation results have shown that applying redundancy and QoS mechanisms considerably improve performance of the current network, highlighting the WFQ mechanism as the best option to optimize the parameters of the hospital data network.
