Abstract
Spinal dysraphism (SD) is an umbrella term that includes all of the congenital midline neural tube defects. The terminology is very confusing even for the professionals dealing with those pathologies, and there is no clear consensus in the literature on that subject. Furthermore, the presentation of each patient with the same anomaly is usually different from each other and this mandates tailored management for each patient regardless of the underlying pathology. This chapter includes a brief description of the pathology of spina bilfida and discusses the basics of clinical management.
