Abstract

The purpose of the paper is to reveal and identify the role of collaborative on-line international learning projects in the context of contemporary pedagogical challengers and principles. The novelty of the research is emphasized by the necessity to consider the appearance of the cultural behavioral patterns which are based on the on-line ethnicity, and the necessity to explore such principles of Pedagogy as Socially Conscious Pedagogy, Accessibility, Open Pedagogy and Educational Resources. The Universities’ mission to teach young people around the world respect and international understanding is highlighted. The role of collaborative international projects in promoting virtual mobility through COIL (Collaborative On-line International Learning) is viewed and emphasized. Con-ducted in 2019, the international project between Russian and American students provided a collaborative educational experience focused on the challenges of migration. The paper explores the implication that borders; migration; migrants; stereotypes and ethnocentrism have on international relations. Even though this is a virtual experience, it is highly beneficial to students’ development in inter-cultural competence. The need for Universities to give their students the opportunities and environment to enhance their intercultural competence is discussed. The COIL model enhances skills in team – teaching, and the students ‘ability to produce and present work collaboratively. The paper reveals the necessity for individual human potential realization and considers the content of the permeable structures that develops cross – disciplinary interaction, soft skills and critical thinking development.
