Diagnostic Assessment and Treatment of Peripheral Nerve Tumors

Abstract

This chapter will provide succinctly the key points to a successful surgery of benign peripheral nerve tumors. Briefly, the authors will discuss the clinical management of schwannomas and neurofibromas of the peripheral nerves, indications that range from a conservative management to a microsurgical resection. Furthermore, the authors will present important details for the successful microsurgical resection of these two types of neoplasm (illustrated by four case figures), including a step-wise technique for the safe tumor removal with preservation of all the functioning fascicles.
