Abstract

This chapter is a guide for clinicians seeking practical tools to assess function in their older patients. This chapter describes screening tools for falls risk, dementia, delirium, frailty, physical self-maintenance (activities of daily living), depression, malnutrition, social support, potential for urinary retention in older men, and polypharmacy. A summary of the instruments discussed in this chapter is given in Table 8.1.
