Abstract

In this paper an application of the soft computing, in particular the fuzzy logic, in the processing of the results of the engineering structures investigations is proposed. The fuzzy logic is based on the concept of fuzzy sets. Fuzzy set is an object with the membership function that changes on the whole interval from 0 to 1, and not only equal 0 or 1 which is a specific feature of the explicit sets. According to the studies in this area the forecast of the technical condition that can be obtained by using of fuzzy approach is credible enough. The engineering structures degradation speed and the point when the defects will become critical also can be determined based on the fuzzy logic.
