Abstract

NIV is used routinely in patients with cystic fibrosis despite the evidence in the literature supporting this practice being fairly limited. The main indications to use NIV in CF are airway clearance, hypoxaemia, acute and chronic ventilatory failure.

This short review will summarise the rationale for using NIV in patients with cystic fibrosis in these settings.
