Abstract
This chapter describes the content of the Austrian CLIL CPD programmes and highlights the need for a clear balance between course input and participant practice. The chapter presents examples of lesson materials developed from a range of upper secondary curriculum subjects. The chapter also presents a selection of feedback from teachers and students about their experiences both in training and as learners. The chapter outlines specific achievements and challenges of the Austrian CLIL CPD programmes. Areas of achievements and challenges refer to the following: theoretical versus practical aspects of school curriculum subjects; the balance of theoretical input and hands-on practice during the CPD; growing experiences from individual tasks to multiple-lesson sequences; developing communication in upper secondary curriculum subjects; identifying and activating key curriculum language.
