Abstract

Purpose: The results of the research of the labour potential of internally displaced persons and the reasons for its underutilization in the North Caucasus region are proposed in this article. The purpose of this work was to study the external conditions and internal factors affecting the effective implementation of the labor potential of more than 500 migrants in 2011 and 2020.

Design/Methodology/Approach: The research was carried out using a questionnaire and a study of the integral individuality of internally displaced persons based on the theory of V.S. Merlin.

Findings: The results of a research of objective factors characterizing the quality of life of immigrants in the post-migration period showed that in the North Caucasus region insufficient attention is paid to the social well-being and employment of this category of citizens. 94 per cent of migrants had to do any kind of work in order to create conditions for their families, whereas, if managed appropriately, they could be of great benefit to the socio-economic development of the region. Domestic instability, the lack of housing for many years increased the multivariability of the psycho-trauma of forced migrants.

Originality/Value: It was established that in the post-migration period adaptation takes place specifically for each age category of immigrants. Working with older people, attention must be paid to restoring self-esteem, support and respect from others, the opportunity to realize their life and work experience. Child support programs should include technologies that allow you to get rid of the distortion of the picture of the world, neurotic fears, to imagine yourself in the future, to choose a profession. For mature migrants from 25 years old, social and psychological support programs are needed that can successfully overcome cultural shock, restore a sense of “rooting,” positively accept a new environment to reduce tension and victimhood.
