Abstract

This study, conducted through qualitative methods and based on the analysis of the water management problem from the perspective of experts, addresses the pressing water crisis in Mexico, with a specific focus on Guanajuato. The convergence of diverse actors and opinions highlights challenges in sanitation, distribution, and access to water resources. The conclusion emphasizes the need for collaborative, cross-level efforts involving the federal government, states, localities, and stakeholders. Sustained management, dynamic actor collaborations, effective water reuse strategies, and heightened awareness are proposed solutions. Recognizing the sociopolitical-environmental dimensions, the study calls for regionalized solutions, tailored policies, and increased education. The urgency of investing in resources for a sustainable water future is stressed, acknowledging the undeniable existence of the crisis with less-than-optimistic predictions for Mexico, including Guanajuato.
