Abstract

This article discusses the possibilities of evolving technology transfer and knowledge transfer frameworks and entities in Romanian universities into improved and competitive technology commercialization outlets that will better serve the community and the taxpayers with concrete solutions to boost economic competitiveness and social development. A fours stage investigation is set up that identifies best practices, structures existing and potential technology commercialization initiatives and proposes innovative management solutions for higher education institutions to the most common challenges and barriers in the field. These proposals are discussed from the points of view of the necessary effort and the probability of success.
