Abstract

In the context of implementing the “Healthy China” strategy, the health problems of the elderly in urban and rural China cannot be ignored.

Compared with other age groups, the elderly have a series of obvious changes in mental, physical and social functions, and they need care and help from family, society and government in all aspects. This article used the 2015 CHARLS micro data, selected the elderly over the age of 60 group as the research object, using Stata statistical software for data statistics and analysis, the Probit regression model and OLS regression model analysis of social support on urban and rural elderly health effects. It is found that formal social support also has a significant impact on the degree of depression and cognition in the elderly, indicating that formal social support also has a significant impact on the mental health of the elderly.
