Abstract

Acceleration, braking and steering of a vehicle depends largely on the contact between the tire and the road, and it depends on the internal pressure. Higher than recommended pressure creates an overheating of the tires and is often the cause of accidents. A lower pressure leads to lower tire forces increasing the braking distance, decreases the vehicle’s maneuverability, leads to tire wear and consequently to a shorter service life. To all this must be added an additional fuel consumption. All this, and not only, has led to the development of tire pressure monitoring systems (TPMS). The active element through which the pressure is monitored is the sensor. It can be mounted in the tire or on the tire valve. Even for masses of a few tens of grams, the developed inertial forces reach hundreds of Newton. Therefore, it is important to know the behavior of these sensors in dynamic regimes, this being the purpose of this paper.
