Abstract

Confluent bilioduodenopancreatic cancer, characterized as stenosis of the distal biliary tract, when diagnosed at a late stage, has a poor prognosis and, therefore, the role of endoscopy (ERCP) becomes the only minimally invasive tool that allows to offer an adequate quality of life to the patient. That means patients with a short survival. In this chapter, we discuss the possibilities of endoscopic drainage of distal biliary lesions, highlighting the anatomical approaches (ERCP) and the nonanatomical approaches (echoguided access). Thus, it is a relevant chapter about palliative care for stenotic cancer of the distal biliary tract.
