Abstract

The neurologic involvement of Behçet’s syndrome (BS) is termed as neuro-Behçet syndrome (NBS). Direct neurological involvement of BS may be classified into two forms: (1) parenchymal (p-NBS) and (2) vascular involvement. p-NBS with a rate of 75% among neurological involvement of BS usually presents with an acute-subacute brain stem syndrome. Headache is the most common clinical feature of both parenchymal and cerebral venous sinus thrombosis. Given that dysarthria, ataxia, and hemiparesis are the major clinical features of p-NBS accompanying the headache in almost all cases, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and cerebrospinal fluid might help clinicians to differentiate the headache occurring in p-NBS from the nonstructural headache of BS.
