Abstract

Mastocytosis is a heterogeneous group of pathologies first described in 1872. Mast cell activation syndrome has a variety of features. The WHO criteria for the diagnosis of cutaneous, systemic and smouldering mastocytosis are reviewed, Diagnostic pathways and the latest treatments are explained. Cardiac involvement causing symptoms may occur in the setting of cytokine release especially with anaphyllaxis.
