Abstract

Minimally invasive surgery techniques continue to become increasingly popular in gynecologic surgery. Single-site surgery is promoted as a safer alternative to multiport laparoscopic surgery, although studies have not demonstrated markedly improved outcomes. Robot-assisted laparoendoscopic single-site surgery is a rapidly developing technique that aims to decrease morbidity and improve cosmesis satisfaction compared to laparotomy, manual laparoscopic surgeries, and multiport laparoscopic procedures. This chapter discusses the history, technique, and ongoing developments within this surgical field.
