Abstract
Since the last decades, there has beenĀ a lot of research on affect in teaching and learning mathematics. In this chapter, we show examples of different methodological approaches and outline recent issues arising from the discussions that took place during the MAVI25 conference. Based on examples both from the literature and from contributions in this book, we show the variety of methods (qualitative, quantitative, and mixed ones) that are associated to research on affect in mathematics education. Finally, we highlight open issues, providing also some ideas about how recent research is dealing with them. This chapter does not aim to be an extensive review of existing literature, but to provide the reader with an insight on the work of the conference participants.
