Abstract
Most popliteal aneurysms are atherosclerotic in origin, with a striking prevalence in men. In effect, popliteal aneurysm is often associated with other atherosclerotic dilations in other sites, especially in the contralateral popliteal and abdominal aorta. However, it remains unexplained why they are so frequent, second only to abdominal aorta aneurysms.
