Abstract
In this chapter we learn about common, the most important signal functions, like sine, damped sine, sine with changing (modulated) amplitude, frequency, and/or phase. We will also talk about random, noisy-like sequences of numbers. The most important signal parameters will be defined, like mean value, variance, energy, power, RMS value, signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), and signal(s) correlation function. We will continue doing experiments with signals in Matlab/Octave environment.
In high mountains all steps are very important, the second also. Welcome in Chap. 2!
