Handbook of Nondestructive Evaluation 4.0

Abstract

The primary focus of this handbook is on technical advances in NDE, covering a broad range of digital technologies, advanced physical inspection methods, and broad industrial applications. The evolution of NDE to its fourth generation was elaborated in chapter-1 along with ten significant use cases. Subsequent chapters provided recent advances in technical know-how and solutions for a safer world.

This chapter is aimed at sharing best practices in innovation management for NDE 4.0 to reduce the risk in pursuit of technical excellence and relieve the pain of change management. It provides guidance on how to create a strategic roadmap, affordably convert ideas into value, and address some key technical challenges. Finally, experience-based best practices in innovation leadership, management, talent, and processes are discussed considering non-technical challenges facing NDE 4.0.

Unlike technical content with definitive outcomes, this chapter provides business process guidance with no right or wrong answer.
