Abstract

Rhinoplasty remains one of the most challenging procedures in plastic surgery. It is imperative that the rhinoplasty surgeon have an in-depth understanding of the anatomy, presenting complaints, surgical techniques, and potential complications in order to optimize the surgical outcome. This chapter presents important concepts that provide a fundamental knowledge base for the rhinoplasty surgeon. An anatomical overview is briefly presented followed by a discussion regarding preoperative analysis, suture techniques, grafting options and various grafting materials, special techniques and scenarios, and complication management. For a more detailed description and explanation of the concepts presented in this chapter, the reader is encouraged to supplement with established references as needed.
