Nanosensor Technologies for Environmental Monitoring

Abstract

Nowadays, environmental pollution issues exist all over the world in different levels and have attracted increasing attention. The sensitive and selective sensing of environmental contaminants is of great value for human health and well-being as well as maintenance of the ecosystem balance. On the basis of various recognition elements, electrochemical sensors and biosensors have been widely used as effective analytical tools to achieve the accurate detection of various pollutants. This chapter introduces the fabrication and principle of electrochemical sensors and biosensors with different electrode materials, and also summarizes their applications toward the detection of environmental contaminants in recent 5 years.
