Abstract

This chapter introduces approaches for designing global health projects and methods for conceptualizing and conducting rigorous monitoring and evaluation. Guided by the CDC Framework for Program Evaluation, this chapter offers practical skills needed to effectively monitor and evaluate public health programs. Topics covered include the fundamentals of designing a project, the importance of proper stakeholder management, developing a project logic model, the basics of mixed-methods evaluation designs, developing indicators, instruments, and a sound analysis plan, and creating a dissemination strategy for both process and outcome evaluations.
