Abstract
This provision has been introduced after the modifications produced by the Lisbon Treaty, and it literally reproduces Article III-272 TCE. Nevertheless, the pre-existing Articles 2 and 29 TEU stated that crime prevention was among the aims to be developed in order to have “an area of freedom, security and justice”.
