Abstract

The growth of cities and populations has a direct impact on people’s development and quality of life. These phenomena make the task of municipalities increasingly challenging in terms of service delivery and preservation of conditions for future generations. United Nations, through its conferences over the last decades, proposed the Agenda 2030. There is a shortage of municipal management evaluation tools that portray the municipal management scenario with a focus on sustainable development. Within this context, this chapter presents a tool developed to evaluate the level of sustainable development of municipalities based on the UN Agenda 2030. The tool presents a set of indicators for the evaluation of each of the 17 sustainable development objectives, generating an index of each municipality that can be compared with an established national goal.
