Abstract

Children have a variety of anorectal problems that cause considerable distress to patients and challenges to surgeons. The presentation of these conditions may be age-specific. Abscesses, fistulae and fissures appear more commonly in infants and young children, whereas hemorrhoidal diseases are more common in older children and teenagers. The anorectal conditions discussed in this chapter include anorectal abscess fistula-in-ano, fissure-in-ano, rectal prolapse and haemorrhoids.
