Abstract

Patients with preoperative stress incontinence symptoms or occult stress urinary incontinence have a lower risk to undergo subsequent antiincontinence operations after vaginal prolapse interventions with concomitant midurethral sling insertion than those patients with prolapse surgery only. However, serious adverse events occur more frequently in patients after vaginal prolapse operations with midurethral slings but not after sacrocolpopexy with additional Burch colposuspension.

Interventions combining prolapse surgery and midurethral slings do not increase the risk of OAB symptoms, urgency incontinence or further intervention for voiding symptoms.
