Abstract
In order to investigate the cognitive processing of military icons under different composition-semantic relations, we conducted behavioral experiments and EEG experiments. 25 subjects were required to judge if the icon-word pairs presented on the screen have the same meaning and press the buttons quickly at the same time, and their behavior and event-related potential (ERP) data were collected. Then conduct a search experiment to verify. Experimental results showed that the reaction times were longer and the accuracy rates were lower for positive icons than for negative icons. In contrast with semantic mismatched conditions, the accuracy rates were higher but the reaction times were short when the semantic matched. The N100 and P200 components were induced under the four experimental conditions, and the positive matching amplitude was significantly lower than the other three conditions. This study indicates that the icon concreteness significant affects the icon comprehension.
