Abstract
Saliva is a valuable source of clinical information, since it contains biomarkers that may be useful for identifying patients at an increased risk of suffering oral disease. Current technology offers a valuable opportunity for developing such biological molecules as biomarkers. The present chapter offers a review of saliva as a potential and effective tool for the diagnosis and monitoring of diseases of the oral cavity.
