Abstract

Sleep-disordered breathing is a broad topic encompassing pathologic and nonpathologic forms of respiratory abnormalities during sleep. This teaching script guides the learner in distinguishing between respiratory abnormalities during sleep, with a focus on obstructive sleep apnea. Common risk factors, associated comorbid conditions, and basic diagnostic and treatment modalities for obstructive sleep apnea are highlighted.
