Abstract
This introductory chapter provides a summarised view of the book, which aims to present a global perspective on aspects of ethnoveterinary medicine. This contribution is realised not only in terms of documenting predominantly plant-based remedies and practices forming part of ethnoveterinary medicine but also in terms of sociological issues relevant to traditional methods of animal handling and treatment. Authors from around the world contributed chapters to this book, and interesting and novel perspectives are a feature, enhancing knowledge of the current state of research and future issues to note.
