Abstract

The medial tibial stress syndrome is a common finding in middle to long-distance runners and may be asymptomatic and an incidental finding on both scintigraphy and MRI. When clinically symptomatic, exclusion of stress fracture is the key to management and bone scintigraphy is considered the reference standard for the diagnosis.
