Abstract
Industrial X-ray computed tomography (CT) is a nondestructive imaging and measurement technology. Not only is CT widely used in the inspection of critical parts in the automotive, aerospace and aerospace industries, but also in the examination of historical objects. Since CT is a nondestructive scanning technique, it is ideal for analyzing valuable and rare objects. It is more and more often being used in archaeological and palaeontological studies on extinct species, often using tiny samples of poorly preserved remains. The article presents the measuring capabilities of a tomograph, by example of analysis a tooth of the extinct aurochs (Bos primigenius). A spatial model of the tooth was generated, which can be used for comparative studies with the extant aurochs-related species. In addition, measurements of tissue volume and characteristic dimensions were made.
