Esophageal Cancer

Abstract

This chapter explores the prevalence and diagnosis of malnutrition of esophageal cancer patients. Due to metabolic changes of the diagnosis and treatment side effects, importance should be on providing increased calorie and protein needs to prevent loss of lean body mass. Evidence-based research will be provided on enteral nutrition perioperative and postoperative, in addition to advancing diet. Treatment toxicities and interventions are addressed as provided by a registered dietitian.
