Abstract

Throughout this chapter, the author’s focus is on the management of Human Resources in alignment with technological changes and organizational strategy. The author analyzes each function of HR management from a transactional, tactical, and strategic approach, to clearly delineate the strategic management level of organizational operations. The chapter includes strategic management of functions of HR such as Staffing, Training and Development, Performance Management and Feedback, Compensation, Labor Relations, Employee Separation and Retention, and Global HR management. In addition to the functions of strategic HR, the author also covers management of the broad issues of HR management such as the investment perspective, metrics, social responsibility, strategic workforce planning, design and redesign of work systems, employment law, organizational-level performance measurement, and the use of servant leader characteristics and traits in management techniques.
