Central Giant Cell Granuloma of the Jaws

Abstract

Central giant cell granuloma of the jaw is considered a non-neoplastic lesion. It is a benign lesion that sometimes can be an aggressive osteolytic proliferation consisting of fibrous tissue with osteoclast-like giant cells. The long-term prognosis is good. The histopathology findings are indistinguishable from brown tumor of hyperparathyroidism, and determination of parathormone levels may be indicated, especially when multifocal lesions are present.
