Abstract
Unintentional injury-related deaths are important international public health issues. Unintentional injuries also create detrimental costs for societies—resources that would be better dedicated to community prevention services. The burden of direct and indirect costs can be prevented if a community program implements strategies within those same levels. Community programs offer an exceptional approach to prevention as they are implemented within an individual’s life space, catering to the needs of their specific environment. This current section will review 11 case studies that demonstrate exemplary practice in programs aimed at community intervention for unintentional injuries. The injury prevention programs are provided here as foundations and examples for other prevention endeavors to learn from and/or expand on.
