Abstract
Pulmonary thromboembolic disease is defined, as well as the most common causes and predisposing factors. Diagnosis of pulmonary thromboembolic disease is emphasized, including both acute and chronic presentations. Specific radiographic signs are defined and discussed. Imaging findings at the time of cross-sectional imaging are described. Alternative imaging modalities are discussed, as are imaging contraindications. The basis of VQ scan diagnosis is introduced. Alternative embolic sources are introduced.
