Abstract
The anatomy of the sacrum is one of the most complex amongst the bones of the human body, which increases the difficulty of understanding the three-dimensional structure for both classification and treatment of sacral fractures. Also the correlated neurovascular structures may result in loss of function or in hemodynamic instable patients due to severe injuries. In order to make the right decision in the treatment of these fractures, it is necessary to understand the fracture and its classification. Most commonly used is the Denis classification or the description according to the shape of the fracture. In this book chapter we present a structured case-based approach to treat different sacral injury patterns of four cases, which have been treated in our institution.
