Abstract

Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is one of the most common disease processes encountered worldwide and it causes significant impairment in patient’s quality of life. Endoscopic therapies have been developed to provide high-efficacy treatments for GERD with a low incidence of side effects. Transoral incisionless fundoplication (TIF) provides an endoscopic approach to rebuild the gastroesophageal flap valve and control reflux symptoms. This approach has been shown to improve patient symptoms and improve quality of life of patients suffering with GERD. In this chapter we discuss the indications, technique, risks, complications, and outcomes of TIF for the management of chronic GERD.
