Abstract

Percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) tubes are a common method of enteral feeding access. Early dislodgment can present challenges for safe management and replacement. Here we highlight the challenges of this clinical problem and considerations when entertaining endoscopic management. The patient characteristics that determine appropriateness for PEG rescue are discussed. Technical components of PEG rescue as well as concepts pertaining to natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery (NOTES) are explained.
