Abstract
Communication between providers and patients is a very aspect important of health services and patient care. When such communication is patient-centered, it can contribute to fostering healing relationships, enabling patient self-management, and making shared health decisions. Patient-provider communication is affected by several factors such as the patients’ health and background, clinicians’ personality and orientation, the health system or even the health system factors. Understanding the importance of communication and potential communication barriers helps in identifying new methods for improving communication and potentially improving the overall health outcomes.
