Abstract

In this section, we will cover common diseases encountered in the general dermatology clinic. The approach to many of these entities is similar, including a good history and physical exam and consideration of medical photography (for lesion monitoring over time) followed by diagnostic work-up such as laboratory testing or biopsy . Many entities are treated first with emollients, topical corticosteroids or topical calcineurin inhibitors followed by more systemic treatment approaches such as phototherapy and/or systemic agents.
