Abstract
The definition and criteria for brain death, though well defined, differ in various parts of the world. Given the implication of such diagnosis, strict adherence to the criteria for brain death diagnosis should be observed according to the region and institution. Scrupulous attention should be undertaken to preserve organ viability in the brain dead organ donor, preferably based on established guidelines.
