Controversies in Pediatric Appendicitis

Abstract

Disparities are an unfortunate reality of healthcare delivery in the United States for children and adults alike. A multitude of data gathered over the last two decades suggest that demographics have a significant and measurable impact on the treatment of surgical disease. This chapter will explore the influence of race and socioeconomic status on the management of acute pediatric appendicitis.
