Abstract
Several types of viral hepatitis exist including hepatitis A, B, C, D, E, and G. Hepatitis A virus is a virus part of the Picornaviridae family causing 114 million infections worldwide annually. Despite it being a self-limiting systemic disease it presents with a broad manifestation of symptoms, clinical presentation, and complications. Children are more likely to be asymptomatic with adults experiencing symptoms such as jaundice and fatigue leading to possible complications as acute liver failure as age of infection increases. Several methods of vaccination, pre-exposure prophylaxis (PreEP), and postexposure prophylaxis (PeP) for the virus exist.
