Challenges of Moving Database and Core IT Systems to Cloud with Focus on Bosnia and Herzegovina

Abstract

In the era of Big Data, a lot of companies are facing various challenges in processing large volumes of data and at the same time extracting and storing important information. For these reasons, the need for change has escalated, and database, as the core of every serious IT system, is one of the main aspects of it that has to be adapted. This paper analyses why the need for a change in database infrastructure as well as related work and research that has been done on similar topics so far. Following that background, the research in Bosnia and Herzegovina has been conducted to identify current situation in companies and institutions coming from three different business domains. Finally, the paper concludes with research findings and discussion about what can be done in the future to build on it and get companies more open to modern solutions and technologies regarding database infrastructure.
